Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Many consider Denver to be the symbol of Colorado. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other end of the planet, someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff composed the track with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it was going to be a top 10 hit. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following having performed in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
