Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff composed the track with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it was going to be a top 10 hit.
