Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21 in 1983) is an acclaimed American actress. Particularly, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Originating from Worthington Ohio, she quit high school and moved in Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. However, in 2001, despite financial struggles, she was able to land her first major part in the web-based video series Rachel's Room as the principal character. Her portrayal in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV movie Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her an award nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was a main character for the initial two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace wanted to focus on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. The actress starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. The role was reprised as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a teenager when she appeared in small role in films made by her father. She also worked with her brother in the 2001 popular movie Donnie Darko. She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a drama) have earned her nominations to the Golden Globe Awards. Following several commercially-successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent earned her nomination for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Then she played in comedies and dramas which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 In addition to her role as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen as a character in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). Her most recent roles include as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her career as a screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021 when she wrote and directed her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter. The film won Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
